This ProCon event was funded through the membership subscriptions. The event focused on the new Planning & Compulsory Purchase Act which after a protracted passage through Parliament received the Royal Assent on 13 May 2004. Craig Mitchell, ProCon Leicestershire Committee Member, introduced the speakers. Speakers: Colin Packman, Head of Planning and Transport, GOEM Frazer Robson, Service Director (Environment), Leicester City Council Iain Johnston, Planning Law Expert, Gateley Wareing Presentations: Colin Packman gave an overview of the key provisions of the Act. Frazer Robson considered the implications of the Act for the public sector. Iain Johnston looked at the impact the Act was likely to have on private sector development projects. Questions and debate followed the presentations.
