ProCon Leicestershire Awards 2015

Awards Night

Awards Night at the ProCon Leicestershire Awards 2015

The highest standards of architecture and construction are flourishing across Leicestershire and Rutland, with the newly announced winners of the 2015 ProCon Leicestershire Awards spread across the two counties.

The winners of the awards for the best new buildings were announced on November 12 at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium.

As was the case last year, there was a double celebration for Rutland with winners in two of the six categories – Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust’s Volunteer Training and Working Centre and the low energy home Whitwell House.

In rural Leicestershire there were winners at two ends of the county – The Barn at the University of Nottingham’s Sutton Bonington campus and Spring Bank, a stone cottage in the Welland Valley village Medbourne.

And at the heart of the county there were winners in Anstey and Leicester city centre – the St James Gate housing development at Anstey and the Connecting Leicester project in the city’s Old Town.

More than 620 people were at the King Power Stadium for the climax of the 13th annual ProCon Leicestershire Awards, sponsored by Gateley Plc, Salus Approved Inspectors, Unique Window Systems and Westleigh Partnerships. The Leicester Mercury is the Awards’ media partner.

The author and TV presenter Tony Hawks hosted the event, which saw a raffle raise £X,000 for the Leicester youth charity Soft Touch Arts.

The architects, contractors and developers behind the best new buildings in Leicestershire and Rutland had nominated their projects before expert judges and the ProCon members voted for the winners.

ProCon chair Pam Allardice said: “On behalf of the ProCon members I congratulate the winners and the finalists. Our thanks go to everyone who entered, to our sponsors and to our judges.

“The ProCon Awards go from strength to strength, mirroring a growing activity in the property and construction sector in Leicestershire and Rutland”
