Based in the heart of the region, Drum Architecture is a design-led practice with a growing reputation for unlocking the potential of challenging sites.
We are highly experienced across the residential housing, residential care, heritage and commercial sectors. Our mission is to provide a highly skilled service, from inception to completion and ensure that all of our projects are delivered in line with our two core values: DISTINCTIVE DESIGN, DEVOTEDLY DELIVERED
As a proud new ProCon Leicestershire patron, we are committed to enhancing the local built environment through a blend of creative vision and technical precision.
At Drum, we believe that being a small practice is our greatest strength. It allows us to offer a highly personalised, director-led service where client relationships are at the core of every project. We don’t just draw plans; we act as dedicated partners, ensuring that every design is as functional as it is beautiful.
We operate primarily across three primary sectors, bringing a bespoke approach to each:
Private Residential: Drum has extensive experience in designing and delivering a number of bespoke dwellings for private clients and self-builders. From traditional country houses, to modern dwellings and barn conversions, our dedicated approach can adapt to suit.
We also undertake a range of domestic appointments to assist clients with extensive extensions and refurbishment works, and these are the backbone of our business.
Heritage: The conservation sector is wide-ranging and architecturally very varied. It is therefore essential that the blend of technical knowledge and sensitivity is applied correctly. We have assisted a number of homeowners in navigating the complexities of refurbishing and extending their period properties.
At DRUM, we understand heritage and conservation, and we just love working with older buildings and helping our clients bring their vision to life.
Navigating the planning system can be daunting, particularly in "tricky" locations such as small villages, conservation areas, or complex infill plots. Drum Architecture is building a growing reputation for helping individual clients and self-builders overcome these hurdles. By combining a thorough understanding of local and regional planning policy with robust design solutions, we successfully secure permissions where others might see only obstacles.
In the last twelve months, we have secured two separate planning approvals in the same village, where previous applications had been met with robust refusals from the Local Authority. We believe that our fresh and realistic approach to the planning and design strategy, helped to tip the balance in favour of approval, resulting in big wins for our clients.
This design for a new three bedroom self-build dwelling, boasting around 210m2 of floor space, was granted approval in late 2025. The design is a deliberate reflection of the traditional village vernacular as the site sits centrally within the conservation area. This was a big win for our client having previously attempted to gain planning consent, without success.
Beyond individual homes, we are aiming to become a key partner to local developers and regional housebuilders. We provide the architectural backbone for small to mid-scale residential developments, ensuring that even high-density schemes maintain a sense of character and quality. Our design-led approach ensures that these developments are not just commercially viable, but are places where people truly want to live.
As a fresh, ambitious practice, we are currently in an exciting period of growth. Our decision to become a ProCon Patron is a deliberate step toward deepening our roots within the Leicestershire and Rutland property community.
We are eager to:
Everything we do is underpinned by our two core values: Distinctive Design. Devotedly Delivered.
As a new practice, we are keen to connect with fellow ProCon members to discuss future collaborations or provide a fresh perspective on your upcoming projects. Whether you are a developer looking for a design-led partner or a consultant seeking a collaborative architectural team, we’d love to hear from you.
