MDA acted as Cost Consultant on the demolition of the former Song School and construction of a new Heritage Learning Centre (HLC), consisting of two levels below ground and two upper storeys as an extension to the existing Cathedral. The construction of the HLC, sympathetically designed to complement the Grade II* listed building, provides much needed space for education, exhibitions, and community engagement, within this remarkable addition to the Cathedral.
The project included re-ordering works to the Cathedral including relocating the font to the Great South Aisle, completely replacing all building services and improving accessibility, including forming un-stepped access at north and south doors, replacing the floor to create un-stepped access and to provide services routes, heating and a more attractive and robust stone floor finish, providing accessible draft lobbies to the main doors, forming a new doorway to the HLC extension from the Great South Aisle, repairing some stonework and blown plaster at high level, enhancing access to the tower and maintenance access to some roofs, completely redecorating the interior, new lighting, and extending the 2015 AV system.

MDA acted as Employer’s Agent and Cost Consultant for The Barons Pastures development involved the transformation of an existing Victorian farmhouse, farm cottages and agricultural buildings along with the construction of several new houses.
The redevelopment offers two distinct collections of stylish properties, providing 17 individually designed, luxury homes. The Farmstead Collection features beautifully converted, renovated and refurbished farm buildings ranging from the majestic, double fronted Victorian Farmhouse to more modest 2 and 3 bedroom converted barns and stables.
The Garden Collection of 10 new build 4 and 5/6 bedroom homes offer distinctly individual and visually appealing properties. Their design took inspiration from design elements and characteristics from the farmhouse and barns, merging traditional architectural details with contemporary design flourishes.
The homes consist of bungalows, one and two storey houses that are either detached or semi-detached with double or single garages along with ample parking, generous gardens and patio spaces.
