CPW – experienced MEP engineers, bringing buildings to life in ways that are better for the world

Climate change is, without a doubt, the greatest challenge we face in these times. We are on a mission to deliver zero carbon buildings that help sustain better lives for many generations to come.

As specialists in delivering Building Services Engineering for over 45 years, we have a huge responsibility to design and act sustainably. The built environment contributes nearly 40% of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions. But we have the tools available to change this.

In order to deliver upon this mission, we need the backing of ambitious, forward-thinking organisations, who understand the role we all need to play in reducing carbon emissions and achieving net zero carbon.

How we can help

Our passionate and experienced MEP engineers can provide you with a wide range of specialised services:

  • Sustainable MEP design
  • Decarbonisation
  • Sustainability and net zero carbon
  • Vertical transportation
  • Daylight and lighting
  • Acoustics
  • Power and infrastructure
  • Technical advisory

Our sustainability work has been widely recognised and led to us being featured in ‘His Majesty at 75: The Leadership and Vision of King Charles III’ and ‘Celebrating 75 Years of the National Health Service’.

Our work in Leicester

Space Park Leicester, University of Leicester

Space Park Leicester is a state-of-the-art research, development, and manufacturing facility, with offices, laboratories, teaching facilities and co-working spaces all focusing on driving growth in the space sector.

CPW joined the £46.4 million project to deliver the mechanical and electrical engineering consultancy services, as well as undertake a site monitoring role. Read the full case study.

St Margaret’s Gateway Scheme, Leicester City Council

CPW supported the refurbishment of St Margaret’s bus station, transforming it into a 21st century transport hub, providing the public with a fresh and carbon neutral bus station. The design reused many existing elements of the building, reducing the embodied carbon of the project, as well as incorporating photovoltaic panels on the roof to provide green electricity. New facilities include increased bays, real time passenger information, CCTV and a security hub.

T-Level Centre, Loughborough College

CPW worked on the development of a new contemporary, state-of-the-art teaching space. The two storey, 770m2 building provides flexible learning spaces, teaching labs, including clinical ward settings, manufacturing simulation suite and VR suite for 150 students each year.

Catherine Infant School, Galliford Try

The £14m school building is to be delivered as part of the Department of Education’s school rebuilding programme. Designed to be Net-Zero Carbon in Operation (NZCiO), the school utilises low energy design coupled with photovoltaic panels to offset the energy consumed. Effective lighting design ensures daylight is optimised in the space, allowing reduced energy consumption by switching off or dimming lights.

Giving back to the community

CPW is invested in doing what we can to support our local communities in the cities we work in. In Leicester, CPW has committed to achieving a set of CSR goals. Over the last year, our activities have included:

  • teaming up with Leicestershire Cares and Enrych to help renovate a garden for a single dad whose disability makes it difficult for him to maintain his garden;
  • supporting Nether Hall Special School to develop their outdoor learning facility in the field adjacent to the school, including creating a new Gruffalo Trail;
  • donating £5,000 and collecting donations from staff for New Springs Church’s AOK5000 scheme (Acts Of Kindness) to deliver 5000 hampers to local people struggling with the cost of living;
  • providing work experience as part of Leicestershire Cares route to employment scheme for young offenders or those at risk of offending.
