Update on Universities and University Hospitals of Leicester Developments

22nd October 2019: 6.00pm arrival for a 6.30pm start to presentations. Close approx. 8.30pm

Focusing on the developments taking place at the 2 city based Universities and the University Hospitals of Leicester, this event will include the following presentations:

De Montfort University – What next after the Campus Transformation Project - Umesh Desai – Director of Estates and Facilities

Update on the current and medium term development plans for DMU and the challenges faced by the Estates Directorate.

University of Leicester - Update on the University Masterplan - Michael Flanagan - Director of Estates Campus Services

The University of Leicester has committed to transform its estate to deliver a welcoming and cohesive campus experience, and establish a distinctive and high-quality environment that fosters collaboration and achievement. The presntation will putl;ine the detais of the masterplan which includes: development of a mixed use site comprising over 1,100 student bed spaces, a new teaching and learning centre, refurbished social spaces within Grade 2 Listed cottages and a new multi-storey car park; extended and enhanced home for the Students’ Union and campus services, including an exciting new food court; transformation of an existing site for the University of Leicester School of Business; cutting-edge research and collaborative facilities at Space Park Leicester; and last but not least, public realm improvements connecting and opening up the campus to its surrounding environment.

University Hospitals of Leicester – Reconfiguration Programme Update - Nicky Topham – Reconfiguration Director and Darryn Kerr – Director of Estates and Facilities

Update on the long-term development plans for all three sites Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester Glenfield and Leicester General, including outline of proposed timeframe (dependent upon capital), scale of investment and the prioritisation and phasing programme.
