The best new buildings in Leicestershire in which to study, live, work, play and think have been named winners of the 2016 ProCon Leicestershire Awards. There was also an award for a project to prevent flooding in Leicester.
Leicester’s waterside also featured in another winning entry – the Friars Mill regeneration project in the city centre. And outside of Leicester there were winners from Hinckley and two South Leicestershire villages.
The developers, architects, contractors and consultants who worked on the projects celebrated their successes last night [November 17] at the King Power Stadium.
More than 620 people attended the ceremony which was hosted by the actor Shaun Williamson, who played Barry in EastEnders and starred in the Ricky Gervais comedy Extras.
Four corporate sponsors backed the Awards. They are Salus Approved Inspectors, Spearing Waite, Unique Window Systems and Westleigh Partnerships. The Leicester Mercury is the Awards’ media partner.
A Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to the architecture, engineering and construction consultancy business Pick Everard, which is marking its 150th year during 2016. It began life in 1866 at 6 Millstone Lane in Leicester.
