Galliford Try has been appointed by University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust to deliver two healthcare projects in Derbyshire and Staffordshire.

The contractor will build the Outwoods Primary Care Centre in Burton-upon-Trent through the ProCure22 framework. The new facility will increase GP and community healthcare capacity for the growing population in Outwoods and north Burton, providing services from a purpose-built centre.

Galliford Try will also deliver the Acute Front Door Redesign project at Royal Derby Hospital. The scheme will reconfigure the hospital’s existing emergency access point as part of plans to improve capacity and patient flow through urgent and emergency care services.

The redesigned facility will create a single entry point for ambulatory Emergency Department and Urgent Treatment Centre patients. It will also provide additional urgent and emergency care capacity and enhanced mental health facilities.

Laura Hodgetts, Healthcare Director for Galliford Try, said: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with University Hospitals of Derby and Burton Trust on this important project and we look forward to delivering modern, integrated healthcare and also support wider health and wellbeing through its inclusive mix of services, helping to improve patient experience and outcomes.”

The appointments mark Galliford Try’s fifth consecutive project with the Trust.

The contractor previously delivered the Florence Nightingale Community Diagnostic Centre, which received the Retrofit Award at last year’s Constructing Excellence Midlands East Awards.
