It’s education, education, education – new buildings at two colleges and a university are the finalists in the Large Non-Residential category of this year’s ProCon Leicestershire property and construction awards.
In the running are Loughborough College’s Hub and Arts Academy, Brooksby Melton College’s Lakeside Campus and the University of Nottingham’s Barn at Sutton Bonington.
The category, sponsored by Danaher & Walsh, is one of six in this year’s ProCon Awards, whose overall sponsors at Westleigh Partnerships, Gateley Plc, Salus Approved Inspectors and Unique Window Systems. The Leicester Mercury is the Awards’ media partner.
The Large Non-Residential Scheme of the Year finalists are:
The Hub and Arts Academy, Loughborough College, submitted by Willmott Dixon Construction
Loughborough College’s new Hub and Arts Academy has been purpose built for the teaching of music, performing arts, design, art and media courses.
At the heart of the campus, it includes a 250 capacity theatre, with recording, rehearsal and editing suites plus dining facilities and a learning resource centre.
The Lakeside Campus, Brooksby Melton College, submitted by Maber Associates
Brooksby Melton College’s new Lakeside Campus provides modern teaching facilities for motor vehicle, service engineering, construction, floristry, horticulture, environmental industries and foundation learning.
The campus is also home to a new multi purpose sports hall and an all-weather sports pitch.
The Barn, University of Nottingham, submitted by Willmott Dixon Construction
A growing population at its Sutton Bonington Campus meant the University of Nottingham needed a new student amenities building to bring together all student services under one roof.
The Barn is at the heart of the campus and includes a bar, dining hall, common room, graduate centre, faith rooms, student services and a range of other facilities over three floors.
Dan Danaher, managing director of the award’s sponsor Danaher & Walsh, said: ““The ProCon Awards night is the main construction and property event held in the East Midlands. As a leading civil engineering contractor in the region, Danaher & Walsh is proud to support this prestigious event.
“The Non-Residential Small & Large Scheme categories are closely aligned to the types of projects in which our company is involved across the region so, naturally, we are delighted to see such a high standard of entries. We look forward to celebrating the success of the winners on the night.”
The winner will be announced at a November ceremony at Leicester’s King Power Stadium.
The other five awards are:
Small Residential Scheme of the Year, sponsored by Infrastructure Investment
Large Residential Scheme of the Year, sponsored by Infrastructure Investment
Small Non-residential Scheme of the Year, sponsored by Danaher & Walsh
Regeneration Project of the Year, sponsored by EME Installations
