Youngster’s garden design brought to life at new Lovell housing development in Coalville
A pupil at a primary school in Coalville has seen his creative skills brought to life after winning a competition to inspire a garden at a new housing development.
Five-year old Niall, a member of Reception class at Greenstone School in Ellistown, was chosen as the winner of a garden design competition organised by Lovell Homes following a visit to the school earlier this year.
During the visit, the developer spoke to the children about housebuilding and its latest development at Swinfen Vale in Ellistown, which is located next to the school.
They children were then tasked with producing their own unique garden design that could inspire a garden at the Lovell development. The whole Reception class took part, with Niall’s entry selected as the inspiration for a garden space at the show homes and marketing suite area.
Niall and four classmates recently visited Swinfen Vale to see the finished garden and discover how his artwork had helped shape the space.
Greenstone School head of school, Rebecca Squires, said: “The competition was a lovely opportunity for our Reception children to use their imaginations and learn about the new homes being built in their local area. Seeing a garden inspired by Niall’s design brought that learning to life and gave the children a special experience to share with their classmates.”
Lovell is currently building 146 high-quality new homes at Swinfen Vale, as part of the wider South East Coalville masterplan led by strategic land developer Harworth Group. Greenstone School is a brand-new school built within the development to serve the new community as it grows.
Lovell regional sales director, Dawn Bennett said: “We like to thank everyone at Greenstone School for getting involved in this project. We loved seeing the children’s creativity and how they imagined the garden could look.
“Niall’s design featured lots of flowers and vibrant colour, and the garden has created a lovely space for our visitors. It was a pleasure to welcome him and his classmates to show them the finished result and for them to see how their ideas can help shape the community around them.”
Homes at Lovell’s Swinfen vale development went on sale in July and the first residents are due to move into their new homes this winter. The overall build is expected to be complete by Summer 2030.
