A traditional farmstead and dairy, Brook Farm is now host to a collection of four new contemporary homes influenced by the forms, footprints and materials of its former agricultural barns.
The barn types, external scale, height and massing is in keeping with the former buildings, including a re-sited Dutch barn. The ridges of the brick and steel barns were raised to accommodate increased floor heights.
The development provided the opportunity to almost recreate how the original farmstead would have looked when it was first built.
The four dwellings have private courtyards or gardens with open views across the countryside. Each features open-plan, light-filled flexible living spaces. Landscaped gardens and a private lake enhance the project.
Each of the four dwellings and garages are unique, with each home individually designed to respond to the styling of its building.
A flooding issue was resolved by widening the brook running behind the site and introducing stone gabion walls to improve drainage.

Oakmount Drive is a development of three detached family homes in a gateway position on the edge of Medbourne. The scheme transformed a site previously occupied by a 1980s dwelling and redundant barn.
Located on a former agricultural site in the heart of the village, the six individually designed homes bridge the historic character of Congerstone with its expanding residential neighbourhood.
