Connecting Leicester Streets and Spaces Walkabout and Networking Drinks

1st July 2014: 5pm start followed by optional drinks at 6pm

Do you want to find out more about the council’s programme of improvements to the city centre streets and the creation of new public squares?

The historic centre of Leicester contains a number of sites with stories to tell. Have you ever wondered who St Martin was, what was Greyfriars and what happened to it?

You can find out more about the Council’s Connecting Leicester programme and discover the secrets of Leicester’s history in a free city walk lead by a blue badge guide and a council officer responsible for Connecting Leicester.

The route starts outside Hotel Maiyango on St Nicholas Place and goes around the old town, taking in the most historical parts of the city centre. The guide will take you back to medieval times and through more recent history such as the 1905 unemployed march to London. The nearly completed Jubilee Square and the band new Market development will bring us right up to date.

The planned route is just under a mile long. With stops to talk about important sites and landmarks on the way, it will last between 45 minutes to an hour.

The walk is followed by optional drinks and networking at Hotel Maiyango from 6pm.

If you wish to just attend the networking part of the event you are more than welcome - please book onto this using the following link - Networking and Drinks Event
