Tour of De Montfort University Vijay Patel Building and Castle Business School

28th February 2017: 6.00pm arrival for 6.30pm start to presentations. Finish approx 8.30pm

Join us for a tour and presentation about the latest developments that have recently been completed at De Montfort University.

The DMU campus is now one of the finest in the country. Over the last few years they have invested £136 million to make it the very definition of a modern, 21st century place to study.

Located right in the heart of Leicester, DMU is a blend of the historic and the new, respecting the tradition of the area and its buildings while at the same time creating a new legacy of their own.

At the heart of it is the stunning new £55m Vijay Patel Building, which houses the art and design courses in a building as creative as the students who study there. The building was opened to students in August 2016 and also houses a new Gallery and the new Food Hall and Riverside Café. Surrounding the building is the newly-formed landscaping creating a “Green Lung” in the heart of the campus which merges into the recently completed landscaped Mill Lane. A giant LED screen overlooks the landscape area, showcasing live events to the university staff and students.

DMU has also spent £4.2 million restoring Leicester Castle, located right on the edge of the campus, giving new life to this historic gem and making it the base of the Leicester Castle Business School. The building opened at the end of January demonstrating the University’s ethos of being a “public good” and giving something back to the city.

There will be a short presentation about these developments by the Estates Team from the University and then a tour of the Vijay Patel Building and Castle Business School. This will give ample opportunity for questions to be asked about the developments with further networking for members at the end of the tour.
