Emerging Talent celebrates Women in Business

Emerging Talent helped celebrate the outstanding achievements of three women in construction at the Leicester Mercury’s Women in Business Awards.

The ProCon Leicestershire group, for young people starting their careers in property and construction, was the sponsor of the Women in Construction category.

The awards were presented to a dozen winners during a ceremony at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium.

ProCon Leicestershire Emerging Talent chair Hannah Brennen, of MDA Consulting, said: “At Emerging Talent we recognise the important role that women play in the property and construction sectors.

“We are keen to promote female role models who will encourage younger generations to consider property and construction when thinking about their future careers.

“Our warm congratulations go to the Women in Construction award winner Kate Tinsley of Ibstock. It’s a very well deserved victory.

“We hope Kate continues to tackle gender inequality in the workplace through her promotion of the #YesSheCan campaign.”

Kate is the first ever female managing director of Ibstock, the UK's largest brick manufacturer. One of Kate's proudest achievements is the role she is playing in helping attract more women to think seriously about the exciting career opportunities available in construction.

Her fellow finalists for the award were construction coach Maria Coulter and Victoria Brambini, managing director of the consultancy Perfect Circle.

Maria started her career in construction in 1988, first as a quantity surveyor and project manager. Maria retrained as a coach, started her business and has since worked with more than 40 businesses.

Victoria took up the managing director role at Perfect Circle in January, after five years at the public sector procurement specialist Scape Group.

Hannah said: “One of the aims of Emerging Talent is to help young professionals and apprentices develop their Leicestershire connections which will in turn help them develop their career. The Women in Construction finalists prove that there are plenty of opportunities in the county.”

Emerging Talent is a welcoming group of people who are forging careers in the property and construction sector in Leicestershire.

Established in 2017 by the ProCon Leicestershire network, Emerging Talent is open to graduates, higher level apprentices and students on work placement.
