Freeths doubles down on legal AI with expanded multi-year Legora deal

Law firm Freeths has expanded its partnership with legal AI provider Legora, formally committing to a long-term collaboration that places the platform at the centre of its technology strategy.

The two businesses had been working together since early 2024, but the latest agreement confirmed Legora’s role as a core component of Freeths’ approach to using generative AI across its 13 UK offices. The firm said the partnership focused on accelerating legal workflows while maintaining data security and human oversight.

Freeths said the collaboration was intended to support the delivery of complex legal work more efficiently, while ensuring legal judgement remained “in the loop” and client data protection standards were upheld.

Nick Pryor, director of knowledge and innovation at Freeths, said: “We’ve been working with Legora since before they were Legora, nurturing a long-term partnership built on strong foundations and shared values.

“Client data security and a responsible approach to AI are non-negotiable for Freeths – and Legora has consistently exceeded our demanding expectations. Their recent ISO 42001 certification marks a pivotal milestone, allowing us to formalise our collaboration through this expanded multi-year commitment.”

By embedding Legora’s technology into core workflows, Freeths said its legal teams were able to reduce time spent on routine review and analysis, allowing lawyers to focus on advisory and strategic work. The firm added that this supported competitive fee structures without reducing service standards.

Corporate partner Francis Dalton said: “We are leveraging Legora’s analytical and review capabilities to dramatically reduce routine tasks, allowing our lawyers to focus on high-value strategic advisory work whilst maintaining competitive fee structures.

“Legora helps us meet the exceptional service levels our clients rightly expect of us, and we’re delighted to be collaborating with them.”

Legora said the expanded partnership reflected Freeths’ approach to responsible AI adoption within the legal sector.

Alex Fortescue-Webb, head of UK and Ireland at Legora, said: “Our work with Freeths has been an extremely rewarding process. From the very start of our partnership, their team has been eager to embrace AI in a responsible way that we champion at Legora.

“I’m looking forward to working with Freeths, as we continue to scale and expand across the UK.”
