Innovating Education Through Architecture: A+G Architects’ Latest Carbon Neutral (in operation) School

Published 08th May 2024 by A+G Architects

We are thrilled to announce that our team at A+G Architects has reached a significant milestone in sustainable design with the upcoming opening of Wellington Place Primary School in Market Harborough. This state-of-the-art, £9.3m development is a commitment to the future of our planet and the education of our children.

Sustainable Design: Our approach integrates renewable energy sources like solar panels and air source heat pumps, aiming for the school to have significantly reduced utility bills. The design also features recycled rainwater systems, and landscape features such as a pond and swales to reduce surface water run-off.

Bio-Diversity Focus: The school grounds will be a living classroom, with wildlife gardens, mini forests, and ponds, developing a connection between students and the natural world.

Community-Centric: Located on the new Wellington Place estate, the school is designed to be the heart of the community, encouraging families to adopt eco-friendly practices like walking to school.

As architects, we believe in the power of design to shape not only spaces but lives and communities and we can’t wait to see The Wellington Place Primary School come to life.
