The renewal of the Jewry Wall Museum was an ambitious and sensitive project, centred on the careful restoration and reimagining of the Grade II listed museum.
Originally completed in 1962 and designed by one of the 20th Century’s most esteemed architects, Trevor Dannatt OBE, the museum had become increasingly underused.
This project sought to not only restore the museum’s architectural integrity but to redefine its purpose and accessibility for future generations.
The refurbishment was delivered in three key phases: stabilising the structural integrity of the building and upgrading its thermal performance; transforming the internal layout and revealing its iconic cast concrete vaulted ceiling; and installing state-of-the-art exhibitions and immersive interpretation experiences.
Where new elements were introduced, they were designed to be reversible or clearly distinguishable from the original structure, preserving authenticity and supporting future adaptability.
The project has revitalised a nationally important heritage asset, reconnected it with Leicester’s communities and laid the groundwork for a dynamic cultural future.

Greenstone Primary School, built on the fringes of the National Forest, is Leicestershire’s first purpose-built forest school.
An ageing and outdated school needed to be replaced as it was not fit for purpose. There were high levels of noise pollution, unwanted public interaction and the entire school and surrounding area are within a flood zone.
