Medium Non-Residential Scheme of the Year Award 2025 Finalist

The new sports hall at Manor High School is a four-court facility designed to add capacity and enhance educational and community provision.

The new Simon Cole Sports Centre, complemented by four new classrooms, is named after the former Leicestershire Chief Constable and Manor High School student.

The project, driven by an increased intake of 200 pupils, has a strong focus on Net Zero principles including solar energy generation, efficient heating and cooling through air source heat pumps and electric vehicle charge points.

Further Information

This development ensures Manor High School can not only serve its expanded intake but also provide educational and community facilities for years to come.

The new sports hall’s generous size can facilitate whole-school events, comfortably seating students for examinations and large assemblies. Through out-of-hours access, the facility benefits the wider community by significantly improving sports provision for local clubs.

An initiative with the Woodland Trust gave around 70 children the opportunity to help plant trees that will frame the new development. The school is also creating an amphitheatre using the earth excavated during construction.
